A new family-owned business recently debuted in the Delmar Loop. Milano Kabob opened in late November, featuring casual Iraqi cuisine in a quick service setting. The Halal deli offers everything from Middle Eastern appetizers and kabob sandwiches to desserts, smoothies and cold-pressed juices.

The concept comes from chef-owner Fouad Rammahi, who along with his family, also owns Milano Hookah Lounge in the neighborhood. Rammahi’s daughter, Ruwaida “Ruw” Alrammahi, and son, Mustafa Alrammahi, help run the shop on a regular basis, while other family members lend a hand behind the scenes. “My mom and dad are self-taught chefs and have always had a passion for food,” Ruw says.

According to Ruw, she emigrated from Baghdad to St. Louis with her mother, two brothers and sister in 2009, while her father arrived in 2012. Rammahi went on to gain experience in the industry working at restaurants, including The Vine and Ranoush. The family opened Milano Hookah Lounge together in 2014, followed by Milano Grocery – a south city deli that operated from 2019 to 2022.
