This six-block of entertainment, culture, dining and shopping in University City, MO is a destination for many residents of St. Louis, MO, students staff from Washington University, and millions of tourists annually.
The Delmar Loop is the economic backbone of the area and derives its name from the turnaround that once enabled streetcars to return to nearby St. Louis. Both tourists and local residents frequent the boulevard’s galleries, restaurants, and nightclubs. Locals come to The Loop on foot while others arrive by MetroLink, the area’s successful rail system, which will soon be the new Loop Trolley that will open early next year.
The American Planning Association(APA) has selected the Delmar Loop as one of 10 Great Streets in America because of the sustained efforts of local business, government, and the community to achieve successful physical and economic revitalization.
