ST. LOUIS – We’re still days away from the Juneteenth holiday, but that didn’t stop the St. Louis community from celebrating the weekend before the landmark day.

At the Delmar Loop this morning, runners gathered for a 5K race for reconciliation. The runners traveled through a scenic stretch of Delmar.

Participants say it’s all about coming together to bridge racial divides.

“It’s important for all over the world, and especially here in St. Louis,” said runner Kyra Ellis-Brown. “We are one race. The human race.”

Juneteenth celebrations kept going all day with a vendor fair and food around the loop. More activities are scheduled Saturday evening, with concerts from “Spirit of Angela” and “The Red and Black Brass Band.”
