The Delmar Loop is excited to invite you to be a part of our upcoming Juneteenth Celebration, scheduled to take place on June 15th! Juneteenth is an essential commemoration of freedom and an opportunity for the community to come together in celebration and reflection.
This year, four organizations are coming together to curate an unforgettable event. Delmar Boulevard, a longstanding symbol of division, is transcending its historical barriers as both sides of the Delmar Loop – University City and St. Louis City, along with Delmar Main Street and the St. Louis Reconciliation Network – unite their efforts to create an extraordinary Juneteenth festival experience. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering unity, celebrating diversity, and commemorating the significance of Juneteenth.
This year, we are expanding our festivities to include an energizing 5K Morning Run, an afternoon Vendor Fair, and an captivating Evening Celebration featuring performances by talented African dancers, drummers, musicians, and even a car show!
Race for Reconciliation:
The Race for Reconciliation is a 5K run/walk with the goal of promoting racial unity in St. Louis. This year, the race will be held on Delmar to bring the message of racial unity to the historic Delmar divide. Participants of all paces are welcome, with a 1-mile course option available. Join us in building unity one step at a time!
Afternoon Vendor Fair:
Following the race, join us for an afternoon Vendor Fair featuring retailers, food, and drink. Enjoy browsing a variety of vendors while indulging in delicious food and beverages. This is the perfect opportunity to support local, black-owned businesses and enjoy the community atmosphere.
Evening Celebration:
Cap off the day with our Evening Celebration, featuring live entertainment and a car show. Immerse yourself in the vibrant performances by talented artists, including Kunama Mtendaji World African Arts, Spirit of Angela West African Dance and Drum, the Red & Black Brass Band, and more! The car show adds an extra layer of excitement to the festivities, providing a unique experience for attendees of all ages.
