The City of University City and the Loop Special Business District are excited to announce a special summer event in the Loop — Thirsty Thursday Block Party!

The closure of Delmar at Kingsland boulevards for trolley construction work provided the perfect opportunity for a gathering in the street.

Two block parties are planned: Thursday, June 23 and Thursday, June 30 in the Loop from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The first Thirsty Thursday Block Party will have free live music by local musicians Kid Scientist (5:00PM) and Whoa Thunder (6:00PM).

Other activities include an inflatable basketball hoop, beer tasting and art demonstrations at Craft Alliance, facepainting, and food and drink specials for businesses.

As if those activities weren’t enough to bring people to the area, a “The Loop Celebrity Dunk Tank” will feature local business owners and community members in the hot seat. The dunk tank schedule for the 23rd includes:
• 5:00PM – Joe Edwards, Blueberry Hill
• 5:30PM – Kelly Pollock, COCA
• 6:00PM – Chris Poehler, Loop Trolley Company
• 6:30PM – Michael Alter, Fitz’s Root Beer
• 7:00PM – Tom Schmidt, Salt+Smoke

Donations for the dunk tank are encouraged but not required. Each person being dunked gets to donate proceeds to his/her favorite charity.

Come experience summer in the Delmar Loop with this fun, free, family-friendly event! More information, www.visittheloop.com.

Save the date for the June 30th Thirsty Thursday Block Party too. More fun, music, and dunk tank celebrities to be announced!
